HALTEMPRICE AND HOWDEN

Who said politics is boring?

On a point of principle, apparently influenced by Shami Chakrabarti, David Davis has resigned as the MP for Haltemprice and Howden in order to force a by-election in which he will stand.

David Davis is making a stand over Labour's intention to ram a bill through parliament enabling the government, with certain caveats and conditions, to hold terrorist suspects in prison for up to 42 days without charge.

The Liberal Democrats have assured David Davis that they will not stand against him, and it seems that Labour are tempted to refuse to dignify the by-election with a candidate of their own. Without a Lib Dem candidate David Davis is assured of victory - unless there is a major upset.

The English Rights Campaign is aware that the English Democrats are preparing to fight their own campaign in this by-election. In the Tranby ward in Haltemprice and Howden in the local elections last year, the English Democrats beat one of the Tory candidates and were only 6 votes short of beating the other, despite the swing to the Tories in East Yorkshire in that election. In adjoining constituencies in Hull this year, the English Democrats contested 4 wards and beat the Tories in 3 of those wards and were only 6 votes short of beating them in the fourth.

The English Rights Campaign looks forward to the English Democrats contesting this by-election.

THE EU

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

The Irish have voted 'No'in their referendum on the Lisbon Treaty. Good for them. The pity is that they are the only nation in the EU which are being allowed to vote on this sordid treaty. Labour, despite their clear manifesto pledge to hold a referendum in the UK, have absolutely no intention of honouring that pledge.

Despite their habit of vote rigging, of which the West Lothian Question is but one example, this illegitimate Labour government dare not even allow a vote on the Lisbon Treaty.

A recent ICM opinion poll for Global Vision has revealed that 41% of the people would prefer a relationship with the EU restricted to one of trade and cooperation; 27% want to remain full members of the EU; and 26% want to withdraw from the EU altogether.

If the option of 'trade only' was offered in a referendum, 64% said they would vote in favour, with 57% being prepared to leave altogether in the event that other EU countries tried to block such a move.

This simply shows that the British ruling class is persuing its own agenda against the interests and views of the British people.

No doubt the EU, and the illegitimate Labour government, will now persue their dreams of a superstate regardless of the Irish referendum, just as they did in response to the Dutch and French referendums.
